It’s the month of LOVE. With Valentine’s Day yesterday shops have been awash with hearts, flowers, chocolates and cards … all so we can share a physical symbol of our love.
But what does love mean to you? How do you like love to be expressed to you?
If you’ve not explored your preferred way of feeling loved or expressing love, I highly recommend The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman.
Regardless of your relationship status, LOVE is important. Your love for you. Self-love – it’s the most important love. Because you can only connect and love someone else as much as you love yourself. I encourage you to think about that for a moment. Re-read that sentence, say it out loud. Then listen to your body and your heart. What is it saying?
A couple of the self-care examples that are listed on my website are about actively increasing your self love. Here is one of my favourites which you can easily incorporate into your morning routine:
💜 What is the most loving thing I can do for myself today?
Another great exercise is with a mirror. Look at yourself and then repeat “I love you (insert your name), I really, really love you”. This is based on the wonderful work of Louise Hay.
Click on the link (or copy & paste) for a demo and the reasons behind mirror work – its all about improving your inner cheerleader and your love for yourself.

Another version, particularly for those with body issues is to do this mirror work naked in front of a full length mirror….and then tell yourself why you love each component of you – start from either your head and work your way down to your toes or vice versa.
You will need to commit to doing this for at least 21 days, each and every day…notice the shift in how you view yourself over time. The change may not be dramatic, however it will plant the seeds of self love.
Try the following journalling prompts about love. Being loving, receiving love and being loveable.
💜 When am I the most loveable?…..
💜 I feel the most loved when…..
💜 When am I the most loving?….
With Love and gratitude
